Tarot Card Comparisons: The Qabalistic Thoth- 7 of Wands-& The Connolly Tarot-7 of Wands

The Thoth-The Seven of Wands-Valour, represents Netzach (Victory) in the suit of Fire. However, the number 7 itself is a weak earthly-magnetic -feminine number as regards to the Tree of Life (see past blogs). This Male Fire is also attributed to Mars in Leo, so the Sun is still in full strength, but by being focused on the 7th Sephiroth, it is overpowering and causes an unbalance that can be seen as wavering fire on the wands of this card.

The idea implied by this Card is of a battle being thrown into disorder (flames going in all unsystematic  directions), where the army is losing and only by the exercise of individual Valour can victory be achieved.This losing army is depicted by the Six Wands of the Three Adepts relegated to the background, diminished and becoming common placed while the seventh wand-individual Passion, in the foreground, is a large crude club; implying that the first weapon at hand is a unsatisfactory and primitive weapon in ordered combat and only the valor of the club wielder can carry the day.

On the Qabalistic Tree of Life, the Sevens are attributed to the seventh Sephiroth- Netzach (victory) which is very low down on the Tree of life; causing a doubling of the unbalanced nature of conscious energy as consciousness is now descended deeply into illusion while engaged in a frantic struggle with self-identity.

Netzach pertains both to Venus and Earth, and the Heavenly Beauty of Venus is now debauched by Matter.  The four Sevens bring no comfort as they are the denigration of each element, exposing the utmost weakness in every case.

As stated, The Seven of Wands is called Valour, which may sound charming on first blink; However, Valour is shown only when one knows it is a lost cause that they are engaged in, but continue the fight anyway. Energy is being felt in its last gasp while struggling desperately, therefore the effort is still easily overcome.

Astrologically this card represents Mars in Leo. Mars in Leo is a position of courage and strength but a clash is certain whereas victory is not.

Qabalistically, the 7 of Wands card is the influence of Netzach (victory) in Atziluth (World of Pure Spirit). Hence this card suggests opposition and possible victory, depending on the amount of courage exercised by the querent.

The Seven of Wands (basically all sevens) show a positive result which is dependent upon the action taken by the individual. However, the battle suggested by this card, may also be disorganized and disordered producing uncertain results. How the individual reacts to seeming chaos, depends on the Valour of the individual.  A determined individual, who "takes the bit" and charges into the fray---a do or die mentality--will prevail.

The individual capability to be disorganized and disordered comes from being unsure of yourself and your ideas.( The club among the Golden Dawn Wands of the Adepts shows uncertain shape).

 So what the Spirit is telling the querent here, is that only through individual Valour will the individual prevail in the present or coming fray of possible outcomes; do not depend on others to "carry the day".  Hence, Self Trust, is the Valour producing mechanism here and lack of self trust will end up as a negative outcome.

Esoterically, Wands represent "sex-energy" which is the passionate force behind the Will-To-Be. Will is of Spirit, which indicates that we must be listening more to our Spirit than our brain... for true Valour is Spiritual.

The Planet Mars represents War-or Battle and Leo represents the Solar Self (Spirit) which suggests that only the Battling Spirit can win here.  So generally, the 7 of Wands shows a force transcending the material plane and is a intensely passionate force that requires one capable of wielding it. To those who are aware of this "rising passion", it is Kundalini Force, and if a person of little valor (valour) invokes Kundalini, disorganized and disordered emotions shall prevail; However, if the person knows that they are untiring Spirit, who operates their own body as a Wand of an Adept, and sees challenges as accomplishments rather than problems--their inner Valour shall attain outer victory via kundalini force. Therefore the 7 of Wands suggests that no matter how much you fear, charge into the fray with confidence that your Spirit shall prevail!

The Connolly Tarot-7 of Wands, depicts a strong person approaching a gated path. Six wands are used to create the gate, and the seventh wand is in the hand of the human image. The fertile leaves on the wands and the red shoes, represent the element of Fire, that rules the action of the wands.

Since the gate is not overly large, and the person is large and strong, this card seems to represent that with the blessing of inner strength, one can achieve their goal by applying a little more effort.
