![]() ![]() The
Threes of the Hermetic Qabalah, are the number of the Great Mother
Binah. Therefore the Three of Disks is the Influence of the Great
Mother, The Form Maker, in the Sphere of Earth. Here, Binah is
illustrated as the Great Sea of Binah in the Night, as the background of
the card. The fact that Unlimited Light is dark, is shown by the
mottled gray, indigo and green pattern of the Sea. ![]() The
view of this card is that of a pyramid as seen from above its apex. The
three wheeled base, represents the three Mother Letters of the Hebrew
alphabet, Aleph ( Air/Mind) , Shin (Fire/Spirit), and Mem (Water/Unconscious) or the alchemical
system of Mercury, Sulphur (old English spelling), and Salt. If you
are of the Hindu persuasion, the three wheels represent the Three Rajas,
and Tamas. ![]() Part
of the Great Work is to establish a "Knowing Evolutionary" state of
self-conscious- expanding and liberating; to "sense out" through the
animal brain form, thereby, bypassing survival thinking limits, allowing Wisdom
to act rather than letting the senses of "outward being" dictate
reaction; i.e. emotional response dictation to the "inner-Self" . ![]() ![]() The Qabalistic Thoth Three of Disks-Works, is the influence of Binah in the Material world that Qabalists call Assiah. ![]() Crowley illustrated this card on
the basis of 3, Binah's number, showing 3 wheels at 3 points in the
pyramid. This grouping of Three, is shown in Alchemy as Mercury, Sulfur,
and Salt; or in Qabalah as the maternal letters Shin (Fire) Mem (Water) and Aleph (Air). If you are interested in Hindu system of Guna, the three are Sattva, Rajas and Tamas. Guna:From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. This article is about the Indian philosophical concept "Guna". For other uses, see Guna (disambiguation). Guṇa (Sanskrit: गुण)
depending on the context means 'string, thread or strand', or 'virtue,
merit, excellence', or 'quality, peculiarity, attribute, property'. The
concept originated in Samkhya philosophy, but now a key concept in various schools of Hindu philosophy. There
are three guṇas, according to this worldview, that have always been and
continue to be present in all things and beings in the world. These
three gunas are called: sattva (goodness, constructive, harmonious), rajas (passion, active, confused), and tamas (darkness, destructive, chaotic). All of these three gunas are
present in everyone and everything, it is the proportion that is
different, according to Hindu worldview. The interplay of these gunas defines
the character of someone or something, of nature and determines the
progress of life.In some contexts, it may mean 'a subdivision, species,
kind, quality', or an operational principle or tendency of something or
someone. In human behavior studies, Guna means personality,
innate nature and psychological attributes of an individual. There is no
single word English language translation for the concept guna. The usual, but approximate translation is "quality". The Thoth Card shows a Pyramid that seems
to be arising out of a Great Sea; that sea represents Binah (the Sea of the Unconscious) the Third
Sephira on the Tree of Life. This card also represents the Material
establishment of the Universe as determined by its basic form of 3. The
influence of Mars is in the Red- tint. ![]() Usually this reaction is in response to the father, often shown as a ambivalent, or eccentric reaction to authority figures. The response maybe a very negative and/or dark inner one; making the response confusing and "unclear" to the individual. In the psychology of Jung, this card represents an interesting suggestion of repressed materials of childhood, the early nurtured feelings about authority figures, to which one unconsciously responds to and plays out in daily life. On the positive side: This card is also about increase in wealth. The Jungian 3 of Pentacles, also heralds success in art, music, or occupations related to philosophy or religions and/or occupations that tend to delve deeply into unconscious materials, by "bringing them down" into material worldly structures. This is shown by placing the 3 pentacles on the soil, below the sea of the Unconscious. When the Three of Disks is thrown during a reading:
As in all cards, the definition is modified by dignity. If ill dignified by the accompanying cards:
