The Thoth Tarot-7 of Disks: Failure & The Night Sun Tarot- 7 of Pentacles.
On the Qabalistic Tree of Life of the Hermetic Qabalah, the 7's of Tarot are attributed to the Sephiroth- Netzach (victory) which is very low
down on the Tree of life. This is a doubling of the unbalanced nature of
conscious energy as consciousness is now descended deeply into illusion
while engaged in a frantic struggle with self-identity. Netzach
pertains both to Venus and Earth, and the Heavenly Beauty of Venus is
now debauched by Matter. The four 7's bring no comfort as they are
the denigration of each element, exposing the utmost weakness in every
case.
The Thoth-7 OF DISKS : FAILURE[Pentacles in other decks]
Astrologically this card is Saturn in Taurus which indicates a great deal of work with very little reward.
To the Qabalist,
this is the 7th Sephiroth-Netzach in Assiah, the influence of Victory in the Material
World....but this is a small victory after extreme effort. In other words the rewards aren't worth
the effort. Hence, this card seems to be as all 7s, which means very little
good to be gained in the material world from continued emotional and
mental effort. However this "little gain" is deceptive, since this card is more about fear of failure
than failure itself. Therefore, the 7 of Disks reminds us that trying to defeat our own fear
is what is holding us to a snails pace, if any pace at all, towards our
success.

Fear is not to be defeated, by trying to defeat it, for it is made of the "first material" of creation, called "thought". Therefore, trying to suppress or defeat fear is futile, as that just
means you are using your own thoughts and emotional force against you. Rather, Fear is
to be understood as a means of focusing on the issue; fear tells us to use our
power of observation like a type of magnifying glass. Again, Failure is
not the problem, it took Edison over 999 failures to make a light bulb,
showing that previous failure did not stop the invention of the
successful one thousandth try, it only caused him to look at different approaches to the problem!
Hence, the 7 of Disks reminds us that it is our own fear, that tricks us and leaves us to believe we are incapable.
The 7 of Disks also reminds us that we must keep on our projects, they will be completed by perseverance with in 7wks or 7months.
The aware consciousness
knows that fear is only for the sharpening of the senses so that we can
pay attention to the details; it is not for avoidance. Therefore
failure tells us what didn't work, not to stop working on
solutions! To listen to our fear of failure, as if something serious
and life defeating just happend, is to abandon labor and sink everything
into sloth.
The 7 of Disks, implies
that we are fooling ourselves by fearing discomfort, which is also fear of failure and/or vulnerability. Hence,
we become inactive,
passive, and fallen. The Fear of failure states," it is better to lay
here on the damp earth of wept for dreams than stand up and pry your
feet from the resistant mud of
assumed comfort". [Eli]

Again, what I say to my own sub-conscious... consciously- is , " If you wish to speak to me you must stand for I'll not kneel to your weakness!"....I
then slog on to a new day where success awaits me. Thanks to the 7 of
Disks-Failure, I am reminded that its not far now...your still breathing
so get on with it!
Therefore, The Thoth Tarot- 7 of Disks is about putrefaction, a very important alchemical paradigm that precludes purification. Therefore,
the number 7, Netzach-Victory (7th Sephira on the Tree of Life) has an
enfeebling effect; However, in this case it is made even more enfeebled
by the influence of Saturn in Taurus.
The Thoth cards interesting disk emplacement is in the gemantic figure
Rubeus, the most ugly and menacing of the 16 figures. ( 777-And other Qabalistic writings of Aleister Crowley).
There is an atmosphere of
blight about the card and since leadened Saturn, in Taurus brings very little
gain on earth, with a great deal of effort, it is blighted in many ways To carry
on this idea. The back ground of the card suggests cultivation and
spoilage and Netzach's four colors are blotched with indigo and reddish
orange, which again promotes the concept of spoilage ( the reddish
orange, on the card is faded by processing). Saturn's disks are lead in
color and suggest bad money.
*NOTE: In the Night
Sun, Golden Dawn, Rider-Waite Tarot Decks, the Disks of the Thoth Deck
are known as Pentacles. In other older medieval tarto decks they are
often shown as coins.
What I have most often found is that it is the individual's Fear of Failure
that is the stumbling block to success here and that somewhere in their
emotional past the idea that they were/are unworthy of success, is an
underlying personality construct. Other people have reacted so
emotionally to loss, that gain itself is a threat as they might lose it
and therefore will not now dare to desire it.
The Night Sun Tarot-7 of Pentacles, emphasizes what many of
us don't realize, that we are both Force and Form (The study of Force
and Form is the Qaballah) and that our Spiritual and/or Mental Force
runs our physical form. Therefore, to think ill of ourselves is to
perform ill as a form. Since the most powerful Force of our Mental Self
is "E-motion" that the Divine Creatrix-
Imagination, forms into manifestation, you are held to no actions of the past if you are
willing to imagine a new future. Imagine yourself -Well, wealthy (money
raining down all around you) etc. and you will set a force filled course
of prosperity for your physical form. Make a forceful chant such as,"
North, South, East and West, my prosperity flows to me which ever way is
best!", do this morning, noon and night or the instant you worry about
income. By taking action to change your mind, you are being Spirit in
motion. Spirit is action; a forceful energy-in-motion, while the "lizard
brain" is a fear based survival mind who reacts to environmental
present-actions with past fear and in error calls those reactions,
present emotions.
Above all things know thyself! You are a Psychosomatic- Force that operates a Power-Tool--known as "your body"! This
power tool-body, is stressed as the Image of the Night Sun Tarot-7 of Pentacles. Here the 7 major "swirling energy centers" and/or Chakras, are shown as the Pentacle coins. The background of this card is covered in sacred geometry, with the body in the pose of the Adam Khadmon, "Supreme Being" that is the Whole and Real Person.
The sigils for both Saturn and Taurus are displayed on the upper left and right of the Green Tarot card. Green, in this case, is the color of fetile earth. His chakras, are lettered in Hebrew rather than the traditional Sanscrit writing of the Yogis.
The Thoth-7-of Disks: Failure.
Physical failure, labor thwarted, and everything is sunk in sloth. While the Night Sun Tarot applies to this
card a pause in the garden of financial, health, and
physical relationships. Here, is the time to spiritualize matter, and relax in success before progress. Here, Fabio Listrani may be illustrating the "secret of putrefaction", where matter is in a moment of repose before becoming pure enought to transform to the next alchemical change.
Take a long look at the Thoth card.
Its astrological sign is Saturn in Taurus. The planet Saturn is
symbolic of constricted, restricted and/or the feeling of limited
energy. Taurus is representative of productivity and achievement. The
two together tell us that our productivity and achievement are being
restricted and limited by a leadened thought process, i.e., our fear of failure. This aspect of Saturn and
Taurus can also be seen in the coins as the helmet symbol is Saturn and
the Bull is Taurus. Hence, predicting a feeling of failure that
interferes with our mundane financial situation. The Helmet is also a
symbol of a conscious constriction of which fear is indicative of. This
card also indicates a loss of capacity to inspire ourselves or others.
Yet there are contradictory meanings here since this is a pause in the
force of our creativity, this could also be just waiting for the
fruition of our efforts and is a time of repose and waiting for results.
Seeds of new growth are being planted here and the querent may be
waiting for a better and more rewarding path to be discovered, which seems to be the artistic interpretation of the Night Sun Tarot 7 of Pentacles.
As stated, Netzach, is the 7th Sephira on the Tree of Life and is called
Victory. As the
ruling intelligence of the 7's; victory implies an
exhausting contest won by supreme effort.
This enfeeblement of exhaustion is accentuated by the fact that the 7
of Disks is ruled by the influence of Saturn in Taurus. Saturn being a
heavy, dark, primeval ( Known as the "Old King " of the gods) planet, is
made even heavier, more obstinate and plodding by the influence
of Taurus, yet the moral character is firm and obstinately capable of
overcoming obstacles' by sheer determination.
As artistically shown
by the 7 of Disks card, in mundane affairs, Saturn in Taurus is not
very good with money matters. It is indeed, financial failure. In fact,
unless very well dignified, money comes slowly or just wastes away.
However, all Is not lost for the very plodding, obstinate and
determined behavior suggested by this card, can save one from financial
ruin by their natural careful, saving and quite frugal character.
When the 7 of Disks-Failure or the 7 of Pentacles, is thrown during a reading, the querent will be or has been:
- Experiencing for the past or future seven weeks or seven months, unprofitable speculation and employment.
- Loss of apparently promising fortune with little gain from much labor.
- A cultivator of land is suggested, yet very little gain thereof.
- There is also suggestion of slight and isolated gains that bear no fruit, though seemingly promising such.
When very well dignified by the accompanying cards,
- There is a suggestion of honorable work undertaken for the love of it, without desired reward.
- The honorable work being reward in itself.
- This is often called Lust with out the need of result and in this case, it is about the love of physical work where the perfected craft itself is the reward.
- In
the next 7 weeks or 7 months, the more rewarding path will be
discovered and the period of waiting is over, or you will have to
confront your fear of failure in the next 7 weeks or 7 months in order
to plant anew and reap a more generous harvest in your future.
- It
is time to move through old fears and self defeating thoughts of past
failures whether they have been experienced in the past 7 weeks, 7
months or when you were 7 years old.
- Fear is constricted energy focused on a point of I Am...I Am
is our inherited God Voice within our Super-conscious. It declares the
direction of our energy such as, I Am sad...I Am happy...I Am poor..I AM
wealthy..In the infinite realm of possibilities, I AM is the foundation
of all creation and creation is a restriction of energy to form a "point in time". Which we are! Since you have been given the God-like
freedom to declare yourself any way you like...repeating concepts of
failure tell your Greater Self that you demand failure as an expression
of your likeness! Knowing this:
- It is recommended that for the
next 7 weeks or 7 months that your repeat declarations of Wealth. How
about; "I Am The Will and the Way. I Am the Wealth and I own the Day!".
Say this at least 7 times a day for 7 weeks or 7 Months. I've been doing
it now for the past 7 years and my days flow in a joyous dance of
discovery. I highly recommend that you remember yourself as a I AM Magic
Sorcerer from the Source of all Creation who has been given the power
of emotional focus to create your reality. This is a great power---use
it gratefully!
