Tarot Card Comparisons: The Thoth Tarot-9 of Wands & The Witches Tarot- Nine of Wands

In the Thoth 9 of Wands, we have, from a practical and material standpoint, the best that can be had from the suit of Fire (Spirit).

Too emphasize this point The Thoth Tarot- 9 of Wands is called STRENGTH and assigns the Moon to Sagittarius, doubling the influence of the Moon on the Tree of Life which may be seen as "Change is Stability".

The Thoth Wands are now arrows, eight background and One Master Arrow in the center.  The Master Arrow, has the Moon for its point and the Sun as the driving force behind it: Sagittarius, as a path on the Tree of Life, joins both the Sun and the Moon.

The Ten fold flames, in the center, imply that the force is directed downward, as 10 is the number of Malkuth (Kingdom) and/or the material world of Assiah.

Symbolically, the Strength of the Union  of the Sun and the Moon, makes all life possible on Earth. Thus, the Strength of the Union between Male and Female, makes all living things possible on earth,as well as, the greater universe.

Thus, it is a clever evil indeed to install the concept of a "battle between the Sexes", for only weakness can be made manifest from such a divisive perspective. Remember, Perspective is everything, when it comes to the creation of Reality. Therefore, if we expect a "battle", we will get a battle.

Since 9 is also the number of Yesod (Foundation) on the Tree of Life energy is brought back into balance in the 9 of Wands. Therefore, the equal balance of the Male electric and the Female magnetic in our Mind, body and Soul, is a complete Strength that cannot be defeated. The fantasy of "separate" sexes, often doesn't allow full mental /emotional development of our self-identity for this denies the truth that we are all androgyny and promotes possession as love. It is the perfect balance of the Female and Male, that makes all of us Whole. We are both Rational (Male-Sun) and Imaginative (Female-Moon); by balancing both, we become Powerful operators of Form. The strong Mind knows that,"everything I see is another way of being Me." The Weak mind is that of argument and fears "other". In such a mind, the rational argues with the imagination causing only poverty in one's Self and world.

The Witches Tarot- Nine of Wands, sticks to the mundane meaning of  strength after recovery from battle, or sickness. However, instead of the Traditional Man, a strong woman, who is both witch and warrior, is displaying her wand or staff defensively, as the other eight wands stand as an impenetrable fence behind her. The whole card implies the strength of female and male union, as a woman is blandishing male force as male phallic wands. This is only appropriate, as male force, is received by the Woman/Grail, to be used in the formation of energy into form. The Hawthorn wands are abloom with flowers, showing the fertile action of this union.

The golden sun is setting in the background. The setting of the sun symbolizes that her warrior's test will be soon over.  

In the grass, at her feet, are growing St. John's Wort. St.John's Wort, represents fire and Midsummer Sabat and is also associated with physical and magical protection.
